Sixers sign James Nunnally, waive Eric Maynor

The revolving door that leads to the 76ers’ locker room continues to turn, signing D-Leaguer James Nunnally to a 10-day deal, a league source confirmed.

The Sixers have opted to use their last roster spot for trial-and-error purposes in the final stages of a tanking season. Assuming Nunnally makes at least one appearance, the 6-7 swingman will be the 21st player to have worn a Sixers uniform this season. Also, he’s the ninth among their 13 healthy players with D-League experience.

Nunnally (6-7, 205) made his NBA debut this season, appearing in four games with Atlanta. Along with recently inked guard Darius Johnson-Odom, he was one of four players the Sixers brought in last week for an off-day workout at their practice facility. Nunnally averaged 17.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game in 33 appearances for Texas.

The 23-year-old went undrafted out of UC-Santa Barbara in 2012.

To free up a roster spot for Nunnally, the Sixers waived point guard Eric Maynor. Acquired from Washington in a deal at the trade deadline, Maynor will be compensated $2.1 million for the player option he holds for the 2014-15 season.
